2007: Wah Chock Chang
Wah Chock Chang was OSGL’s Chinese Secretary for many, many years. Born in Zhongshan, he has been an active and dedicated member for decades. He was one of the Oo Syak board members listed on the Charter of Incorporation, 29th April 1955, as Chinese Secretary and Director. He was our last link to our past. Wah Chock is the grandson of one of our founding fathers Yick Leong Chang, and passed away at Palolo Chinese Home in 2013.

2008: Maile K. Chang
Maile K. Chang served as President from 2002-2004. She was a devoted OSGL member, and rightly deserves being honored as the 2008 Honorary Director. When we used to have our Annual Banquets at Yong Sing on Alakea Street, Maile served as our Banquet Chairperson. Maile passed away in 2019.

2011: Wah Jip Chang
Wah Jip Chang is the grandson of one of our founding fathers Yick Leong Chang, and younger brother to 2007 Honorary Director Wah Chock Chang. He served as President 1996-1997 and a Director thereafter. He is recognized for rejuvenating Oo Syak Gee Lu in the late 1990's. He is responsible for directing the assembly of a formal membership list, and upgrading the rental property and its insurance coverage. Under his leadership member interest in Oo Syak grew. Wah Jip Chang passed away February 24, 2018, at the age of 98 years old. He was laid to rest at Hawaiian Memorial Park, next to his wife and parents.

2012: Gertrude Yee Chang
Gertrude “Trudy” Yee served as OSGL Secretary and Director for many years, and as President in 1979. Trudy would always light up the room. She would lead OSGL’s Christmas lunches with her dynamic voice singing festive Christmas carols. You also may have had some of Trudy’s li hing mui crack seed treats as her family owned the famous Yick Lung Enterprise with the yellow, blue, and red labels. She passed away in 2020 from a tragic house fire with her daughter Patricia and Daniel son-in-law at the age of 100.

2015: Harold K.C. Hu
Harold K.C. Hu was a very active and valuable member of Oo Syak Gee Lu Society serving as Oo Syak Gee Lu President 1984-85 and 1990-1995. He chaired the Budget & Assets Management committee for many years using his investment and legal knowledge to help manage Oo Syak assets. Whenever the bylaws needed amendment,
Harold chaired the committee and used his legal background to provide the proper wording of the amendments. After banquet emcee Raymond Young passed away, Harold took over as the banquet emcee. He also arranged to have his close friend Retired Judge Herbert Shimabukuro to swear in Oo Syak Board of Directors every January. Harold passed away in March 2022.

2018: Edmund W.K. Chang
Ed Chang’s serveries to OSGL began in 1996 when his Uncle Sing Chang (President 1977-78) recruited Ed and Wah Jip to reorganize and revitalize the society. Aside from serving many positions from Director to President (1998-2001 and 2011), Ed converted the forgotten handwritten membership list to a computerized list. He also started our newsletter and website, and arranged for the OSGL parade banner and the silk banner donated by member Eunice Chun which is displayed at each Annual Banquet. Ed was instrumental in starting the Scholarship Program in 1999, and creating the list of Standing Rules in 1999, and the Honorary Director position in 2007.

2024: Evelyn Y.W. Chang
Evelyn Chang served as OSGL Director since 2008, and has served on the Nominating Committee assisting in selecting the next slate of officers and directors each year. She enjoys coming to OSGL meetings as a means for her to socialize with other members, and also to take a break from watching her Korean dramas on KBFD. Evelyn is widowed from member Dai Fun Chang, but also hails having bloodline lineage to Oo Syak from her mother’s side.

2025: Clayton K.L. Chang (Posthumus)
Clayton became a Director in 2006, and served on Finance and Membership Committees. Clayton was very instrumental in growing our membership tenfold in 2015 by changing the membership qualifications to be of “bloodline lineage”, rather than strictly through male lineage. He mapped out the family trees of any member family, and traced his own lineage back to the Yellow Emperor. During his tenure as President in 2018-19, he made sure that our BOD meetings were not only to conduct business, but he made it fun and educational for our members, making sure that members walked away with a little more knowledge of our Chinese cultures and traditions. Clayton passed away in 2024, and was given the honor of Posthumous Honorary Director in 2025. His legacy continues in OSGL as an annual donor to the scholarship awards since his passing.

2026: Ernest G.C. Chang
Ernest is the son of one of OSGL’s original charter members and first President, Nai Man Chang. He has probably been an OSGL member since he was born. He served as Director since 2012, and Nomination Committee Chairperson in 2018-19. Ernest’s fun-loving spirit always brought energy and life into the room. He would always participate in the United Chinese Society Family Day Picnic, and was garnered water balloon champion with his partner and member Jamie Chang for many consecutive years. Ernest passed away in August 2026.
